Dayax primary and secondary school was opened in 2004 by a former director general of the ministry of education, Mr Tahlil Ibrahim, who worked for the department since late 1960s. The opening of the school was a response to the need of people fleeing Mogadishu and residing in the outskirts of Afgoi district. Since it was opened, the school grew from two classrooms to seven classrooms and currently teaches over 250 pupils in all levels (primary to secondary).

The school is in a refugee neighbourhood who cannot afford to pay for the school fees. Responding to this, EARAD successfully negotiated with the school to pay a discounted fees for 40 pupils from the most deprived families living around the school. The 40 pupils received not only school fees but also uniforms, books and pens all free of charge. EARAD hopes to help these children and their families to realise their potentials.

Below are some of the scenes and videos taken from the school during a visit by EARAD to the school.
